Joe leads Callan's hedge fund research as a member of our Private Markets Consulting Group.
Joe McGuane, CFA, is the head of hedge fund research on Callan’s Hedge Fund Consulting Team. Joe joined Callan in 2021, and his work spans strategic planning, portfolio construction, manager due diligence, and ongoing monitoring. Joe has broad research responsibilities across hedge fund strategies, including macro, long-short equity, market neutral, relative value, opportunistic, and hedge fund-of-funds. He serves as the lead consultant for multiple hedge fund clients, providing strategic guidance on the development and implementation of their programs. Joe is a shareholder of the firm.
Prior to joining Callan, Joe oversaw investment manager research efforts for credit and multi-strategy hedge funds, fund of hedge funds, and global tactical asset allocation funds for Marquette Associates. Before that, he served in various roles at NASDAQ, Inc. and HFR Asset Management, LLC.
Joe earned a BBA in finance and a certificate in entrepreneurship from the University of Iowa. He is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of CFA Institute and CFA Society Chicago.
