David focuses on private equity research as a member of our Private Markets Consulting Group.
David Wong, CFA, is a senior vice president on Callan’s Private Equity Consulting Team. David joined Callan in 2023, and his work spans strategic planning, portfolio construction, manager due diligence, and ongoing monitoring. David leads Callan’s research efforts for middle market buyouts and secondaries, as well as life sciences strategies. He serves as the lead consultant for multiple private equity clients, providing strategic guidance on the development and implementation of their programs.
Prior to joining Callan, David was the director of investments at San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, a sovereign wealth/endowment fund for a Native American tribe. Before that, he held various positions at Tresalia Asset Management and Fiduciary Research & Consulting.
David earned an MS in economics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, an MA in international economics and China studies from Johns Hopkins University, and a BBA in finance from The College of William and Mary. He is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of CFA Institute and CFA Society San Francisco.
