Rod Bare is a senior vice president in Callan's Chicago Fund Sponsor Consulting office. He joined Callan in 2014 and works with a variety of public and corporate defined benefit and defined contribution plan clients on strategic planning, implementation, performance evaluation, and continuing education. Rod is a member of the Callan Institute Advisory Committee and the Defined Contribution Committee. He is a shareholder of the firm.
Prior to joining Callan, Rod served as a consultant at Russell Investments to several large retirement plans, providing advice on plan structure, manager selection, and fiduciary best practices. Prior to Russell in 2010, Rod spent six years at Morningstar/Ibbotson, where he was director of asset allocation strategies. Rod was previously with Deutsche Bank Securities. He has authored several papers on next-generation investment methodologies, multi-asset class portfolio attribution analysis, and ERISA fiduciary responsibilities.
Rod received his MBA in finance and statistics from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business. He graduated from Illinois State University with a BS in economics.
