John McLaughlin, CFA, is a Vice President in Callan’s Trust Advisory Group (TAG). He currently assists with investment design, asset allocation, manager structure, and general investment research for the firm’s discretionary mandates.
John joined Callan in 2019 as an investment team member of TAG. Previously, he worked at Morningstar Investment Management LLC (MIM), the discretionary investment arm of Morningstar Inc. While at Morningstar, John was a prospectus-listed PM for several multi-asset, multi-manager mutual funds that included target maturity, target risk, and target outcome mandates. Additionally, we had oversight over several single strategy mutual funds including total return, multi-sector and municipal bond mandates. Prior to MIM, John worked at RVK as a consultant working with a number of the firm’s largest public and sovereign wealth fund clients with a focus on investment research projects. Additionally, John worked for Russell Investments as an analyst within their derivative overlay and transition management group.
John received his MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Analytic Finance, Accounting, Statistics & Econometrics. He graduated with high honors from Seattle University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration majoring in Finance. He also earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Chicago and CFA Institute.
