Press Release: Sweta Vaidya Joins Callan’s Capital Markets Research Group

SAN FRANCISCO – Oct. 25, 2018 – Callan, a leading institutional investment consulting firm, announced today the addition of Sweta Vaidya, FSA, EA, CFA, to the Capital Markets Research group. She started on October 22 and is based in the firm’s Summit, NJ office.

Ms. Vaidya joins Callan from Willis Towers Watson where she was until recently the director of investment strategy, primarily focusing on asset/liability modeling and pension investment strategy analysis. In addition to her actuarial accreditation (FSA) and being an enrolled actuary (EA), Ms. Vaidya has earned the right to use the chartered financial analyst (CFA) designation. She is a graduate of New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business with majors in finance and actuarial science.

“We’re thrilled to have Sweta join our team,” said Jay Kloepfer, executive vice president and director of capital markets research at Callan. “Given her impressive credentials and experience, she is the perfect fit for our team at Callan.”

The Capital Markets Research group helps Callan’s fund sponsor clients with strategic planning, conducting asset allocation and asset/liability studies, developing optimal investment manager structures, evaluating defined contribution plan investment lineups, and providing custom research on a variety of investment topics. With Ms. Vaidya’s addition, the team will continue to have two fully accredited actuaries on staff, given the upcoming year-end retirement of Karen Harris, ASA, CFA, who was with the team for many years. Earlier this year, the group also added Callan team member Gary Chang, CFA, to its roster and will make another internal transfer to grow the Capital Markets Research group to eight professionals—its largest size ever.

“Sweta is an exciting addition to our firm,” said Millie Viqueira, head of Callan’s fund sponsor consulting. “We’re especially fortunate to have her join us in New Jersey, where we’ll be able to work with her locally and leverage her many talents with our clients in this region.”
