About the Position

As an associate investment consultant in our Chicago consulting office, you’ll provide support within Callan’s defined contribution (DC) research team on many different research projects and client deliverables.

We are looking for a professional who is able to adapt to these changes, which means initially working remotely, moving to a hybrid work schedule, and potentially returning to the office full time.*

Primary Duties

As an associate investment consultant, you’ll be supporting our DC consulting team with the following:

  • Assist in the analysis of fees and services paid to DC plan recordkeepers
  • Assist in searches for replacement of recordkeepers
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of relationships with DC recordkeepers and investment management firms
  • Assist in compiling investment, recordkeeping, and other data on behalf of Callan investment consultants
  • Prepare written profiles, spreadsheet analysis, and finalist books
  • Assist with research and analysis of the DC marketplace, including industry trends within the investment and administrative/operational areas of DC plans
  • Assist in researching, drafting, and editing write-ups, presentations, and research papers
  • Research special DC topics for Callan clients and investment consultants
  • Keep up to date on the general DC investment and administration environment
  • Represent Callan’s DC capabilities with clients
  • Support the development of new DC business through presentations and meetings
  • Collaborate with investment consultants and other departments to respond to requests for proposal, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, well-written responses

Education & Characteristics

We’re looking for a teammate who:

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in finance, economics, or a related discipline (we are also open to those with differing backgrounds and a strong interest in financial markets)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and programs (primarily MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint)
