Position available: Associate Consultant
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
The Associate Consultant acts as a back-up to the primary
consultant for specific clients. Whenever the primary
consultant is out of the office or unavailable, the Associate
Consultant must be familiar with the client and able to respond to a
wide variety of requests. Assistance is required within the
following areas:
Strategic Planning
- Assist in working with Capital Markets Group on projects such as
asset/liability studies, asset allocation studies, spending
policies, defined contribution plan structures, and manager
structure
- Create alternative asset mixes (efficient frontier) and graphs
- Write/review statements of investment policy
- Sit in on Client Policy Review Committee meetings
Implementation
- Assist in coordinating and working with specialists in Global
Manager Research, Defined Contribution, and Custody/Securities
- Write/review client profiles and manager profile for specific
manager searches
- Sit in on Manager Search Committee meetings
Performance Evaluation
- Assist in coordinating with senior analysts in Client Report
Services
- Understand and review quarterly performance reports
- Write/review quarterly executive summary reports
- Create detailed analysis at the total fund level, asset class
level, and investment manager level
- Collect and organize manager attribution analysis and portfolio
commentaries in preparation of client meetings
Education
- Assist in developing customized educational information and/or
seminars for clients
- Research special topics for general consultants
- Provide general consultants with quarterly capital markets

The Associate Consultant is responsible for a great deal of
assistance with prospecting. Although it will be a while before meeting with
prospects, the behind-the-scenes attention provided by the Associate Consultant
is critical. Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Responding to Requests-for-Proposal
- Writing comprehensive proposals
- Creating/customizing finals presentation materials
- Assisting in general marketing effort
- Researching prospective clients
Candidates should have the following skills and characteristics:
- Writing capabilities
- Analytical capabilities
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to master knowledge of and use of Callan's proprietary programs and
systems
- Strong knowledge with Microsoft Windows and programs (primarily
MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint)
- Detail-oriented
- Self-motivated
- Pro-active
- Team player
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred
- CFA charterholder or CFA candidate preferred
- Investment industry experience preferred
